This park includes islands in Lake Newell that are nesting sites for double crested cormorants and white pelicans. Wetlands near the campground provide excellent bird watching and an interpretive marsh trail introduces visitors to the area’s abundant bird species. This lakeshore park is a welcome relief on hot prairie days; the park’s trees and bushes create shady and private campsites. Kinbrook is conveniently located for day trips to Dinosaur Provincial Park, only a 45-minute drive to the northeast. IMPORTANT NOTE: EID Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program in effect. In 2018, the EID started a mandatory Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program. All boaters wishing to access EID reservoirs, including Lake Newell, must follow approved prevention procedures and complete a watercraft information and commitment form stating they will not knowingly spread any aquatic invasive species. As part of the program, trailered watercraft must only be launched from approved boat launches and boaters must check in with the campground offices, marina, or the Eastern Irrigation District Office before launching their boat. Canoes, kayaks, and other non-trailered watercraft may continue to be launched at random locations, but the boaters are still required to check in with the campground, marina, or EId office prior to launching. Boaters can go to the EID office, Lake Newell Resort Marina, Rolling Hills Campground, or Crawling Valley Campground to fill out a watercraft information form and commitment form and receive an EID sticker; sticker must be presented prior to launching. Watercrafts Include: motorized (boats, sailboats, zodiacs, etc.) and non-motorized (canoes, kayaks (adult/kid kayaks), paddleboards, sailboats, etc.) For more information, visit the EID Website.
