Along with its agricultural importance, the reservoir offers a multitude of recreational benefits. Camping, boating, fishing and hunting are some of the activities that take place on or around the lake. Crawling Valley is well known for its excellent fishing. The reservoir was originally stocked with 700,000 trout to provide a sports fishery until species such as northern pike became naturally established. As the pike population increased, the trout population decreased. A total of 600,000 walleye fry were stocked in the lake between 1990 and 1993, to supplement the pike population. You will also find a large beach area perfect for accessing the reservoir for swimming and other water sports!

IMPORTANT NOTE: In 2018, the EID initiated an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program. All boaters wishing to access EID reservoirs must follow approved prevention procedures and complete a watercraft information form stating they will not knowingly spread aquatic invasive species. As part of the program, trailered watercraft must only be launched from approved boat launches and boaters must check in with the campground office prior to launching. Canoes, kayaks, and other non-trailered watercraft may continue to be launched at random locations, but the boaters are still required to check in with the campground office prior to launching. All watercraft owners can register for the program at the campground office and must check-in at the campground office when entering the campground. Watercrafts include motorized (boats, sailboats, zodiacs, etc.) and non-motorized (canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, sailboats, etc.). For more information please visit https://www.eid.ca/ais.html.
