Visit the Brooks Farmers’ Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Veteran’s Park beside City Hall from June – September.

Rodeo Roundups:

Saddle up for an authentic Western experience with not one but four rodeos in the Brooks Region this summer! From bull riding to calf-roping and more, each event promises exciting outdoor viewing for all! Camp like a local and take advantage of the Newell Pro Rodeo and the Bassano Pro Rodeo in June,  the Jenner Rodeo in July and the Patricia Rodeo on the September long weekend each year. These rodeos will all feature an array of entertainment, so be sure to check out our events page for a complete list of fun happenings, including pancake breakfasts, live music, parades and more.

Music in the Badlands:

Every Friday from late May – September enjoy an evening of great live music and storytelling in Dinosaur Provincial Park, with new performances offered weekly. For more information about performances and ticket prices, visit the Music in the Badlands event page.

Swim like the locals:

For some outdoor fun, check out the Duke of Sutherland Water Park, a free outdoor water spray park, or the Bassano Outdoor Pool, featuring a 25m-lane pool with a diving board, a two-story water slide, a 10-person hot tub with a large lawn area and reclining chairs for relaxing.

Unique Eats (and drinks!):

Pop into Brooks for a delicious bite to eat and a caffeine boost at one of the many amazing bakeries and cafes. If you’re thirsty, head to The Steaming Cup for your favourite beverages, including summer-special lemonades, bubble teas, iced teas, or any classic coffee and tea options. For a triple threat, visit HomeTime Bar-B-Que & Bakery, where you can enjoy breakfast, baked goods, and barbecue all in one spot. No matter what, make sure you save room for a stop at Prairie Cottage Bake Shop while you’re visiting – their renowned homemade fresh donuts are a must-try and sure to delight.

Disc Golf Courses:

Try your hand at something new this summer, and check out the Brooks Newell Region Disc Golf Courses. Located conveniently near the Rosemary Campground, the Rosemary Village Disc Golf Course is a free 12-hole course that spans throughout Rosemary, making it a fun and active opportunity to explore the village. Once you’ve completed the course, be sure to fill out the guest book to share your experience!

Brooks and Bassano are also home to nine-hole disc golf courses, making disc golf a must-try activity when visiting the Brooks Region! Check out the Brooks Disc Golf Course, located at Meadow Lake Park, or enjoy the Bassano Disc Golf Course, which begins across from Bassano School and finishes at “The Backyard,” a space equipped with a fire pit, picnic table and horseshoe pits. Make any of these 9-hole courses an all-day, 18-course event by playing your way back to the start!

Walking paths:

While you’re in Rosemary, check out the Rosemary Walking Path, which takes you past all the major sights in the village. Follow the trail and get to know Rosemary. Or, channel your inner paleontologist and walk the Trail of the Fossil Hunters in Dinosaur Provincial Park. The 0.9km trail begins at Fossil Display #2 on the public loop road and ends at a historic quarry site, is mostly flat and takes roughly 40 minutes to complete, making it perfect for the whole family.

Kinbrook Connection Pathway:

The Kinbrook Connection Pathway is a 12km multi-functional route between Lake Newell and Brooks. The pathway offers a scenic and enjoyable walk to explore the area and enjoy the outdoors.
